Enjoy your summer without getting burned!

Happy official first day of Summer! We at the Insurance Center of North Jersey want you to have a carefree time in the sun and with your families, but we also feel it is important to remind you of the importance of safety.
Your barbecue grill poses a threat. Keep it away from anything that can burn, be it your house or dry vegetation. Never leave its side and never let children or pets reach its side. Wear a heavy apron and oven mitts during prolonged use
Now if you are using a gas grill, be sure to store the fuel container outdoors and turn of the valves when not in use. You can check for leaks by using a soap and water mixture that will show bubbles if gas escapes.
For charcoal grills, only use starter fluids sparingly, and only those designated for grilling. Don’t add liquid fuel to reignite or build up a fire, instead rekindle it with dry kindling and add more charcoal if necessary. When done, soak the coals with water before discarding them.
Store your gasoline outside the home, preferably in a locked, detached shed. Make sure it is kept in a container approved for gasoline storage and is clearly labeled.
Also, every home should have a fire extinguisher. A properly maintained one can prevent small problems from turning into big ones.
Summertime should be a time for enjoying yourself and making happy memories. Following these tips will help everyone have a safe summer.
